EEG – Renewable Energy Community

This is the entity that operates in accordance with the provisions of Article 31 of Legislative Decree 199/2021, according to which the electricity injected for joint use must come from production plants commissioned after the entry into force of Legislative Decree 199/21.

Groups of self-consumers of electrical energy acting collectively_

Are a group of self-consumers of renewable energy acting collectively, in accordance with the provisions of article 2, paragraph 1, letter o) of Legislative Decree no. 199/21, whereby the electricity injected for the purposes of joint use must be produced by generation plants located in the area belonging to the same building or residential complex to which the configuration relates, or in other areas where one or more of the final customers that are part of the configuration are fully available, provided that they belong to the same market zone.

This also applies to parts of generation plants, provided that the electricity generated by them is metered separately.

The generation facility may be operated by a producer belonging to the group of joint self-consumers of renewable energy or by a third party, possibly in agreement with the responsible referent.

Individual self-consumption of renewable energy with direct connection_

This is a configuration of renewable energy between producer and consumer that fulfils the requirements of article 30, paragraph 1, letter a), point 2.1) of Legislative Decree no. 199/2021 and which has requested and obtained access to the regulatory and support system provided for forms of “remote” diffuse self-consumption with a direct line between the producer and the final consumer, where the consumption unit and the production unit are connected to a direct electricity line no longer than 10 kilometres and located in territories that are fully available to the self-consumer.
